Well it has been some time since my last post, but my family moved cross-country, and then I just completely forgot about trying to post... Also, there really wasn't much change in anything until last month. SO here we go.
I went to my new doctor to "establish care" and in that meeting I asked for a few things. 1) I have a mitral valve prolapse and it has been 3ish years since my last EKG, so could we just check on that? 2) I'd been having jaw pain for a while, so could we do something about that? 3) I had tried a Phytoestrogen cream on my Lichen Sclerosis and I had seen some improvement. Since the condition is more common in menopause and since my mother who is in menopause has to take 4x the recommended amount of estrogen, could we get my hormones checked out, just in case? My doctor agreed to each of those and so here's where I am at with each of those:
1) My mitral valve prolapse had been "mild leakage". My mother's had been "moderate leakage". She was diagnosed with the condition several years before me. We both went gluten free last year (almost to the day). She had hers checked a few weeks before mine. Her cardiologist found that she had no leakage anymore and said he had NEVER heard of the condition reversing itself. I had my EKG a few weeks ago and my doc said there is "no evidence of a mitral valve prolapse". I don't think this is coincidence. 2 women with Mitral Valve Prolapse (one who had it for 10ish years and the other who had it for 4 years) go gluten free and one year later, they're both good as new. Holy Cow!
2) I am seeing a TMJ specialist and about to get fitted for an appliance (looks like a retainer) to wear mostly at night... Hopefully it will help :-)
