Shortly after going gluten free, a friend of mine told me to check out Poofy Organics, since their whole line is gluten free! Yay!!! Within a week I ordered 4 different products which I will tell you about here. I will warn our soy-free friends that some of the products (like their sunscreen) contain Vitamin E, which is sourced from non-GMO soy. So, for now, since I am also soy-free for the time being, I will not be using those products. And now to the fun stuff!
MIGHTY MANE SHAMPOO
MIGHTY MANE SHAMPOO
According to the website:
"Minimize hair loss, increase circulation & promote/stimulate growth. Reduces scalp inflammation. Great for regrowing hair after chemotherapy.
Ingredients: Purified Water, Decyl Polyglucose, Organic Vegetable Glycerin, Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, Organic Yucca Extract, Organic Essential Oils of Rosemary, Ylang Ylang, Geranium Rose, Lavender, Frankincense, Cypress, Lemon, Cedarwood & Cinnamon, Xanthan Gum.
Directions for use: Wet hair, lather. Leave in while showering. Rinse. Tingling may occur."
The bottle contains 8oz of shampoo and it runs $18.
According to me:
This is a wonderful shampoo... But to explain why, I need to take you down my road of past hair-care. Prior to this year, I was always a Suave, Aussie, etc shampoo girl. Cheap was better. I shampooed my hair every other day, but by the end of Day 2, my hair looked gross. Then I read about using baking soda followed by an apple cider vinegar rinse. It was cheaper than shampoo and many people said they only had to shampoo every 4th day, so I was on-board. Armed with the warning about a "transition period", I began this method of hair cleansing in January of this year. Once I made it past the transition period, I was very happy with my every 4th-day regimen. And then in May, my hair started to look more fried and frizzy. So I did some more reading and tried out using honey as shampoo. This was an epic fail, as it made my hair look greasy within hours of my shower. I stuck it out for a month before finding Poofy.
OMG this shampoo is fabulous! The liquid is a little more watery than your average shampoo, so be prepared for that. The first time I shampooed with this, I didn't use enough because the liquid spread out on my hand and seemed like more than it was. Second shampoo, I didn't make that mistake and have been in love ever since. First, the fragrance is just heavenly. It smells like something out of an Aveda salon... And this makes no sense, but it smells high-end. Which, I suppose it is, given the expense. Second, my hair comes out clean without stripping my hair of natural oils or frying my ends. My hair comes out soft and manageable right out of the shower. I have not been using any conditioner in conjunction with the shampoo, although Poofy does offer a leave-in conditioner now. And Third, I'm back to my every fourth-day shampoo. My hair doesn't look the least bit greasy until late on Day 4, and even then, it's not that bad. I didn't have any transition period with this shampoo, but it's possible that between the baking soda and honey, I had already paid my dues there.
In conclusion, I love this product and will continue to use it, despite the cost. I've had it for ust under a month and haven't made it one third of the way through the bottle yet, so I'm confident that, for me, it will last at least 2-3 months.

CITRUS PUNCH SHAVING GEL
According to the website:
"You will be amazed with how GREAT this works! Great for MEN and WOMEN!
With skin-conditioning oils & extracts, your skin will thank you! 8 oz.
Ingredients: Saponified organic oils of coconut, olive, & jojoba, vegetable gum/glyerin extract, organic aloe vera, Organic Unrefined Shea Butter, Organic Guar Gum, rosemary extract, Organic Lemon Essential Oil, Organic Lime Essential Oil, Organic Orange Essential Oil, Organic Milk Thistle Extract.
For BEST results, use with a bit of water to lather."
The bottle contains 8oz of shave gel and it runs $16.
According to me:
I've used Silk shave cream, I've used Venus shave gel, I've used Barbasol, I've used coconut oil, and for, um... down under... I've used Bikini Zone. So I come from a place of decent experience when I say this is, by far, the very best shave ANYTHING I've ever used. Application: one pump does a whole leg, so I don't feel like I have to use a quarter of the bottle during each shower. Shaving: Super slick. It's like the razor is hydroplaning on the gel. No, really. I had to slow down my razor hand for fear of slipping off my leg. The results: My legs are not only super-smooth, but I can go longer between shaves. And down under? Same story and no irritation bumps. And as proof? I shaved on Thursday. Saturday my husband asks if I had shaved that morning. I rest my case.

PEPPYMINT VANILLA LIP BALM
According to the website:
"MMmmmMMM Minty!
Ingredients: Organic Unrefined Shea Butter, Organic Beeswax, Organic Sunflower Oil, Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Cocoa Butter, Organic Peppermint Essential Oil, Organic Vanilla Flavor Oil."
Contains 0.15 oz and runs $4.
According to me:
Very nice lip balm. It's smooth and soft going on, so you don't have to worry about pulling and tearing already-chapped lips. The fragrance isn't crisp like you'd expect from a peppermint lip balm, but, with the vanilla, is rather more like the pillow mints you find in glass bowls at Christmastime. Other than that, it's pretty much your normal lip balm... Except that its gluten and soy free. Which is huge for me, since I just discovered my Burts Bees products have soy in them. SO, since the price is fairly standard, I will definitely be ordering more. Also, there must be something not-quantifyably awesome about this stuff, cause I have consistently kept it within arms-reach absolutely every minute of the day for the last 2 weeks.

MAX DEO LAVENDER CHAMOMILE DEODERANT
According to the website:
"30 out of 30 people said this deodorant was the BEST they''ve every tried!
Neutralizes Odor without Harmful Chemicals! You will never need another deodorant!
Soothing & Fresh, Naturally Antibacterial!
This DEO is thicker & tackier than most deodorants/antiperspirants you may be used to. Apply about half of what you''d normally use. The stickiness subsides as it absorbs into your underarms. We suggest waiting 10 minutes or so before dressing so that the natural oils can be absorbed by your skin rather than your shirt. Like all deodorants/antiperspirants, some staining can occur.
Discontinue use if irritation occurs. Your irritation is mostly due to a baking soda sensitivity.
Ingredients: Organic Virgin Coconut Oil, Organic Beeswax, Organic Unrefined Shea Butter, Organic Cocoa Butter, Organic Arrowroot Powder, Aluminum-Free Baking Soda, Organic Essential Oils of Lavender & Chamomile."
Contains 2.65 oz and runs $10.
According to me:
On this one, I have to be careful to distinguish between the product and my own experience with it. You'll understand why in a moment. Consistency: Definitely tackier than a "normal" deodorant. Fragrance: Although I chose this fragrance because I wanted something girly, I found that, to me at least, it smelled like parsley. Now, I'm part Italian. I love me some Italian smells. But I'd rather the smell be coming from my kitchen instead of my underarms. Application: I found that I could apply the amount I normally would. Perhaps I don't apply a normal amount of the "normal" stuff. Does it work?: (After a 2 week trial in Mississippi/Louisiana summer heat) Almost all of the time. I did have a time or two where I did stink, but perhaps I didn't let it dry long enough before putting on my clothes. Based just on that: I'd buy it again. BUT sadly, after two weeks of totally normal use, I seem to have developed an allergy to the baking soda in the DEO. My pits went bright red and itchy, then appx 36 hrs later, one of them even started to peel (Eeeww). It took a good 5 days before everything was back to normal. It might have cleared up sooner, but since I had been using the deo for 2 weeks, it didn't occur to me that that was the cause of my irritation. Thus, I didn't wash it off as quickly as I probably should have. SO, the product is great (just pick a different fragrance) and beware of any baking soda sensitivity. I will likely try out their sensitive deo or the spray (neither of which has baking soda) and review those soon.
